Flexible working, can experiment with AI tools, decent equipment. Some good ideas from senior management but it doesn't necessarily filter down. Because everyone is spread around the world, on-call is mostly daytime hours, no overnight work required.

Old products never die, and SREs are expected to know in detail every part of multiple platforms across multiple generations. Everything is hand crafted - load balancers, orchestration, filesystems which leads to regular issues; despite being 100% cloud based, no real use is made of cloud native tools. The SRE role is more like a pure Ops job, reacting to issues. There is no team unity, lots of silos, little management focus which leads to people unknowingly working on the same things or not having a clear work stream. Feedback up the chain is rarely welcome.
