Honestly...No real professional growth related pros to list. Things like occasional random snacks being delivered to the office are fine, but unless you're an intern or a toddler, the excitement around free sweets and savories runs out after about 5 mins. Many staffers are well-meaning and friendly.

This place is hemorrhaging time, energy and resources and someone desperately needs to cauterize the wound. Sorely lacking in any real senior management (probably by design) who could help get control of the situation, the place is largely staffed with junior yes-men types and/or people whose qualifications don't match their titles who are willing to go along with the program for fear that they likely couldn't find equivalent professional status elsewhere. Anyone who does have real expertise typically gets their wings clipped quickly by the head of the company who has adopted a try-to-do-everything-myself approach to running the business -which whether they realize it or not, hugely undermines senior staffers' attempts to do their jobs and help the business. You might work hard here -but you won't work smart. There is a difference. This place needs real creative and product leadership (among many other things) pronto. Some of the dreck that gets produced after many missed deadlines is mind-boggling. Lastly... Let's be honest. The great majority of uber-positive reviews here are planted. Which is sad, b/c that means rather than take the negative comments as an opportunity for self reflection and to identify areas for improvement, the company is having employees write false and overly-positive reviews in an attempt to balance things out. It's a bit embarrassing, really. And an insult to the intelligence of Glassdoor readers as well. Also, for a "luxury" media company, the office is pretty gross/sad. Do something about it. Wouldn't take much. Some facilities are disgusting -if it's a problem with the building, then someone in senior mgmt needs to lean on the building to get it together. This is an office, not the Delta Tau Chi fraternity house.

Like every comment on Glassdoor we take them very serious both the positive and negative. And we make immediate improvements where we can and put a plan in place for those that will take longer. Yes the People & Culture team has set up Pizza Friday, Fruitful Wednesday and monthly birthday celebration based on employee recommendations. We've also added several voluntary benefits, improved the PTO policy, added volunteer paid time off benefit and chair massages. Again based on employee recommendations. We do listen. As instructed by Glassdoor we ask on a regular basis for reviews. We have had several Glassdoor campaigns reminding employee to post a review - they are not coached or told what to say. Just today I reached out to a few departments and asked for reviews due to low participation rates. We have 36 reviews out of about 100 possible reviews. We cannot make anyone write a good review nor do we want to. The truth is always best. We agree with your assessment on some of the facility conditions and we have been speaking with the building management to improve them. I am happy to say the 8th floor employees will be moving to the 10th floor in the next couple of month, which has more light and space. Thanks again for the review.

If you are technology professional you will want to steer clear from this company. The laissez faire attitude of the technology leadership lends no innovation to the department. The main part of the business throws only a handful of meaningless projects to developers while the main load of the work is farmed out to external development houses. This may or may not be due to senior project managers' refusal to write any form of specifications to provide the internal developers with clear directions of their vision. It seems they feel it's easier to deal with external companies than its own IT department. When you do get work as a developer you're forced into a very aggressive timeline for projects while you play mind reader to guess what the actual needs of the business are. You'll spend a week developing something only to find out the company won't go forward with the project or they'll ask you to completely redo it; and then redo it again a day before the product goes live. If you do happen to land a job here learn as much as you can because you'll probably have plenty of free time before you move to the next company.
