I've been employed with Via for over a year and I have been apart of the restructuring efforts undertaken during this time. Via's intent has been to build a team of high-performing individuals who 1) are committed to its long-term success, (starting with the CEO and executive team), and 2) are willing to get into the details and work hard. From my experience, individuals who have not emulated this personality type have been dissatisfied with Via simply because they are held accountable for their performance. I've personally attended various meetings with the CEO and executive leadership which have extended into the late night / early morning, combing over project details to ensure things have been done correctly. The CEO and the standing executive leadership team are completely invested in Via's long-term success, and in my opinion, make key decisions to march toward this objective. This opportunity has been extremely fulfilling and the effort put in has been rewarded and recognized throughout my employment. Additionally, the culture is collaborative and the work you do can directly impact Via's long-term trajectory.

Some people do not want to work at a place that has adopted a "win at all cost" mentality. Furthermore, commensurate with Via's stage, employees (from the executive leadership to individual contributors) are required to take on responsibilities outside of what is typically required at later-stage companies for a similar role, which isn't a fit for all employees. These are the reasons I personally decided to spend a portion of my career at a start-up, but I can understand why certain individuals would not want to do the same.
