Meritocratic. Pretty good team-play ethos. Not a lot of interpersonal politics. Moving from one job to another inside the company is doable: it takes individual effort and diplomacy, but it's not taboo like at some companies I've worked for.

Increasing amount of inter-departmental politics. Infrastructure has a very startup feel to it, even though the company is more than 10 years old. The company recently changed from an industry-standard vacation accrual system to a system in which each employee has as much vacation as negotiated with their manager. This will actually be a "pro" for any employee with a good manager and who's put in a lot of effort into building a relationship with the manager.... but the change caused a lot of anxiety, and the implementation was perceived as not very transparent. One side effect of the change will probably be that employees who don't get along with their managers will be more likely to move on.
