Vantaggi
High starting salary, good benefits. Until recently considered a market leader. I worked for Verint Video Systems full time for five years. Over time, the company became more "process oriented" to the detriment of product quality and customer satisfaction. This is a division of the much larger Verint Systems that also has reviews on this site -- make sure you read them as well. For an inside industry perspective, read the information at ipvm.com on this company as well. If you choose to work for this company, negotiate the highest base salary you can, because it won't change much. Ignore the commission plan because it changes every year. Annual raises are small (2-3%) and arbitrary as yearly reviews are often not delivered until the following year is almost complete. They are quite good at making sure you sell more while making the same or less every year.
Svantaggi
No upward mobility unless you speak Hebrew. Intense upper management pressure to meet numbers for the street and corners are cut. Technology has become dated before ever getting out of beta stage. Endless bug fixing and grand promises for improvement in the always disappointing "next version." Staffing when I left was a fraction of when I started, while sales targets continued to rise. Classic example of "whipping the mouse" management. Middle management won't provide advice or direction other than "do whatever it takes" or "trust your judgement" to get the sale. Then, if things go bad, it's all on you. Avoid verbal communication with management so you have everything in writing. Or, after a verbal meeting, write a summary email and send it somewhere so there is a record. Archive every single email from day one as you will need them when the blame bus is headed in your direction. Company is EXTREMELY aggressive in enforcing noncompete agreements. Get an attorney -- it's all smoke and they never follow through.
