Cons: Management relies on outdated methods and excessive micromanagement. New account managers are handed negative books of business and expected to deliver growth with little to no support. Leads must be sourced independently, yet many customers refuse to engage with Vitran. One-on-ones focus only on results, with no real guidance or coaching. Training is unclear, processes are inefficient, and turnover is extremely high — someone leaves almost every month. The office environment is cold and rigid, with limited flexibility around remote days (which are also micromanaged). Leadership fosters gossip and creates a tense, unwelcoming culture. There are no real team-building efforts — the closest thing to “appreciation” has been a trip to McDonald’s for ice cream, when employees truly deserve more meaningful recognition. Leaders often display unprofessional behavior, including public outbursts, leaving employees feeling unsupported. It’s not uncommon for staff to admit they’ve cried in meetings or on their commute home.
