From a customer’s perspective, WCC appears to be a solid company with decent people doing good work. From an employee’s perspective, my experience was the complete opposite. I worked at WCC for roughly six months. In that time, I was hired, promoted to IT supervisor, and then unexpectedly terminated — all without any warning or discussion of performance issues. I was informed shortly after lunch and wasn’t allowed to complete my workday or properly hand off responsibilities to my team. The entire process felt cold, abrupt, and unprofessional. My biggest struggle during my time there was with the CEO’s management style. In my opinion, he fostered a culture driven almost entirely by revenue and personal control rather than respect for the people doing the work. During a long conversation shortly before my termination, he spoke about how employees were “valued” only in terms of the money they generated for the company. That mindset shaped how decisions were made and how staff were treated. From my perspective, he was dismissive of technical expertise, unwilling to listen to constructive input, and quick to override decisions without understanding the details. Despite telling me I had “free rein” to manage my department, I constantly felt undermined and second-guessed. His communication style often came across as condescending and impatient, creating an atmosphere of fear and tension rather than collaboration. After being terminated, I still had to interact with WCC regarding an important veterans’ disability claim. During that time, I felt that communication from the company — including from management — became evasive and unhelpful. Calls went unanswered, and I was eventually told not to call again. It was an exhausting and demoralizing process that reinforced how little value I felt the company placed on people once they were no longer useful to leadership. In my opinion, WCC was one of the most emotionally draining and demotivating workplaces I’ve ever experienced. The culture I encountered under the CEO’s leadership felt toxic, unsupportive, and deeply discouraging. I left feeling devalued, and disrespected by the experience. I would strongly caution anyone considering employment there to think carefully before joining.
