Game of Thrones is an accurate description of how senior leaders handle issues from the top down. The culture points the finger to blame rather than establishing accountability and an operational mature mindset of improvement with fairness for all employees. One of the most glaring issues I observed over the past two years is the rampant layoffs and restructurings, which seem to occur with alarming frequency for a "growth company." I advise all potential job seekers to avoid this place, this is not a best place to work in Boston or elsewhere. Low-pay for expectations of work hours, no bonus, no 401(k) match, pressure on creating personal balance, repercussions if you are family planning, and Bro management at the top. Avoid career regret.

The CEO appears to have a clear and compelling long term vision. The product has strong brand loyalty and a passionate user base.

Internal politics and misaligned priorities can slow progress and decision making. Some decisions do not appear to be grounded purely in what is best for the user or product. Development cycles can feel long, sometimes taking 2 to 3 years for meaningful product evolution. Several larger departments appear to lack a well balanced mix of experienced, merit driven, and deeply knowledgeable contributors, which can lead to disconnects between teams and ultimately show up in the product. Egos and internal agendas at times overshadow collaboration and product focused thinking.
