Great staff (excluding management) who go above and beyond to make the business thrive because they believe in the mission. Remote working but that’s because they don’t have an office.

Manipulative senior team especially CEOs and COO who smooths everything over, pretending she has no knowledge of any issues and is “impartial” when actually she has been filled in on what’s happening and has been told how to respond. Management will purposefully team up and keep staff in the dark so that they can be moulded to act a certain way. Constantly moving goal posts, staff work tirelessly, way more hours than they should with little flexibility. Team calls are at unsociable hours as there are time differences in the business but no respect to if that impacts childcare/school runs (ironically) or actual sleep before working a full day or after working a full day. There is also absolutely no appreciation for this, or ability to use the extra hours worked in lieu without a struggle. Management claim to want feedback but do so at your own risk as you will be in the firing line, even if what you have said is for the good of the business being on ground level. Short-comings are always blamed on being a start-up despite the length of time of being in operation and common issues are not addressed. All this comes with statutory parental leave and just 4 weeks annual leave... being a women’s diversity platform, I found this quite surprising

The first point to address with this review is the incorrect statement around WORK180 having statutory parental leave. Since having 11 employees (now at 35), we have had 8 weeks paid leave in addition to statutory, regardless of gender and no waiting period to take that leave after a person joins. We also provide an additional $2000 payment in superannuation on any unpaid portion of parental leave. This is and has always been public on our own website. We also do spend money on elevating the brand, the marketing team is the largest company department with the biggest budget. This is also evident in our 500%+ growth in users YoY. Our recent employee engagement survey (we use Culture Amp) shows a different narrative to what has been written above. In every area, we scored significantly higher than the Australian and UK averages. Examples include: > Work-life balance: 9% above the Australian average and 6% above the UK average > Feedback and recognition: 19% above the Australian average and 20% above the UK average > Leadership: 14% above average across both regions > Collaboration and Communication: 11% above average across both regions > Alignment and involvement: 6% above the UK average and 5% above the Australian average We have a weekly company meeting, depending on time zone and daylight savings could be at 4pm - 6pm if you’re on the east coast of Australia. We understand this can be difficult for people with parental responsibilities (including myself), we have the call at that time to include our UK counterparts to ensure they feel part of the team. When team members are unable to make the call, they can watch the recording of the company meeting the next day. Regarding the review on the 30 Aug talking about poor hires, I do not condone that review point, and can imagine it may have been hurtful to read if believed it was perhaps aimed personally.

These are things that some people find challenging but where I thrive. It depends on who you are and what you are searching for. I LOVE that everyday is different in my role. I LOVE that I can be challenged on how to use resources in a growing team, it is what I have always been used to. It means that everyone has a great attitude to get it done! If you aren't used to working remotely that can be hard, but WORK180 does an amazing job of keeping us all connected.

I have been working at WORK180 for two years and it’s been one of the best companies I have worked for. I have an incredibly supportive manager and fantastic talented teams where we use the latest methodology for continuous product development. The flexible working and trust I am given to get my job done I have never experienced anywhere else. Being a completely remote company allows me to have a great work-life balance that is respected and leadership also demonstrates work-life balance which I found is rare. Engagement surveys and monthly pulse check-ins are valuable and action is taken, as well I have a growth plan that I designed with my manager. There are a lot of opportunities to learn and grow. Another positive is I loved the task given during the interview process as it made me value the company more - especially as everyone goes through the some process making it a fair and unbiased process. It is rare to work for a company where everyone in the business is a high performer. I feel my ideas are asked for and valued by management regularly.

The DEI space is sometimes difficult and as a company trying to make a difference it's sometimes taxing on yourself and others, especially with trolls and hate online.
