Vantaggi
PPL here are decent. They do associate themselves with pride which is good, It was located only a mile from me.
Svantaggi
Management
There are ongoing concerns with management practices. Current managers appear to have been promoted largely based on seniority rather than leadership ability. For example, a manager told contractors in the meeting, “If you don’t work hard, you will be fired,” this was on my second day, I mean he could have used a more constructive approach—such as encouraging them to meet performance goals to earn a permanent role with better pay and benefits. This is not an isolated incident; similar messaging is frequently heard in daily meetings. This style of communication undermines morale and reflects a lack of effective leadership.
Pay & Work Conditions
While the location may be convenient, the pay does not align well with the physical demands of the job. At around $20/hour, employees are walking for most of a 7-hour shift. Breaks include two 15-minute periods and a 30-minute lunch, all of which are closely tracked. Employees are required to log activities such as breaks, lunch, and even bathroom use, contributing to a micromanaged work environment.
Process & Productivity Pressure
Current processes require improvement, particularly around task timing. Employees are under significant pressure to meet strict productivity targets (e.g., pulling, stacking, and handling products within tight time limits). This emphasis on speed negatively impacts both consistency and safety.
Safety Issues
Basic safety measures are not consistently enforced. Workers are not always provided with or required to use essential protective equipment such as:
Hard hats
Gloves
Safety glasses
Steel-toe footwear
Despite multiple injuries, there has been little meaningful effort to improve safety protocols. Instead, workers are often told to “be more careful,” rather than addressing underlying risks.
Recent Injuries (within one week)
Hand laceration from a cutting knife
Foot injury caused by a falling brake disc (toe injury)
Another foot injury caused by a falling brake disc
Additionally, minor injuries such as splinters from handling pallets often go unreported, possibly due to workplace pressure or culture.
Workplace Safety Risks
A key underlying issue is the prioritization of speed and output over safety. Timing workers on tasks encourages rushed behavior, increasing the likelihood of accidents.
There is also a serious lack of clearly marked walkways and forklift lanes. Pedestrians frequently walk close to active forklifts with no clear separation, creating a high-risk environment where a serious accident feels likely.
Emergency safety equipment is also insufficient. While first aid cabinets are available, there are no accessible eyewash stations—an important gap in a setting where eye injuries could occur.
