Vantaggi
-Will hire you out of school (in fact, there's always a good chunk of the production team that is still in school) -Get to work on things you're interested in. -Get to work with YouTube and learn a lot about digital content production. Big, vocal audience. - The production staff are (for the most part) really great, talented people. There are some who are so passionate that they become difficult to work with, but they're the minority.
Svantaggi
-The pay. The reality is that in terms of English-language digital content producers in Montreal, there are two big players: WatchMojo and Valnet. Knowing this, there is an attitude at WatchMojo that "if you don't like working here, you can always quit." They know they're basically the only show and town. As far as they're concerned, everyone is replaceable, with the expectation that there are hundreds if not thousands of communications students waiting to take your job and do it just as well if not better than you. So you are paid accordingly, and that can mean as low as minimum wage. - The work rate. You will often work on 10 videos per week. That's two videos per day in many cases. The production process is extremely efficient and runs like a well-oiled machine, but that ultimately leads to robotic, generic content.
