There are really only three ways to advance one's self at WeWork:
1) Be related by blood or via marriage to a high ranking Executive.
2) Date/enter into a relationship with the person making hiring and promotion decisions. This is a seriously rampant problem here and it completely demoralizes other hard working, more deserving team members.
3) Be from Israel, have an Israeli/Hebrew name, be married to someone who does. This is sadly no exaggeration, and this may have improved now that the CEO has stepped aside in what is a long overdue move, but during my time there those employees who shared a similar background with the CEO absolutely got preferential treatment in hiring and promotions.
Overall this is a company that checks all the boxes on reasons why people burn out from working in a startup environment. The overall lack of professionalism is a major detriment to the future success of the company structure.
