WeWork is inexplicably hyped and advertised for being an incredible place to work, but those published articles are truly mistaken and someone was likely paid to publish them. As you can see from the abundant and accurate reviews listed here on Glassdoor, WeWork is a horrendous place to work partly because of the lack of qualified leaders and palpable nepotism. Additionally, the company rapidly hires smart and qualified people only to then decide if they're a "culture fit" or not, and if they're not, they are fired without explanation to their team members. This happens frequently. Because of the rampant "hire and fire" nature of the culture, employees come to work every day in constant fear of termination. One of the many problems with WeWork is that even if you are a high-performing, well-liked employee, who is considered a culture fit, you're still on the chopping block for termination because many WeWork leaders don't know how to make informed business decisions and often times base terminations on personal opinions and "who you know" politics. Another reason NOT to work there is that WeWork expects the company to become the primary focus of your life. There are required expectations that you must uphold as an employee like consistently working late hours (WeWork managers mistake activity for productivity) which perpetuates the myth that if you're working late you must be doing something right, mandatory night and weekend events abroad with no days off to compensate, following their policies with no questions asked (like giving up eating meat and buying into the "hustle" culture) and more. This toxic expectation to always be "on" and buy into the WeWork culture quickly leads to employees burning out, which they can't healthily acknowledge because they're supposed to always be happy "doing what they love" and following company culture policy. Overall, WeWork is an extremely unstable environment and as an employee, you never know if you'll be fired, pulling an all-nighter, or flying abroad with a week's notice. There is no such thing as work/life balance because WeWork is expected to be your life if you choose to work there. This place is not for someone who is looking for stability, fair and accurate internal review processes, or work/life balance.
