Vantaggi
Pay is good and benefits are (or at least were) competitive. The people are the best part. Coworkers are smart, fun, and supportive. Company parties and events are well done and one of the few consistent bright spots.
Svantaggi
Leadership frequently changes direction and throws away months of work, which makes it feel like nothing ever actually gets shipped or accomplished. It’s frustrating and demoralizing to invest time into projects that get scrapped over and over again. Promotions are talked about but rarely, if ever, happen. There’s a pattern of overpromising and underdelivering when it comes to career growth. Benefits have steadily declined over time (e.g., significant cuts to paternity leave, removal of company-wide days off, reduction in smaller perks like snack boxes), which signals a shift in priorities and hurts morale. There’s very little transparency from leadership. The CEO is largely absent and rarely communicates with the company. There has been 1-2 all-hands in the last 3 years, leaving employees in the dark about strategy and direction. Unfortunately, cannabis also carries a stigma, which can impact your career more than expected (even down to things like needing to rely on the parent company name for loans like mortgages). There’s high turnover, especially among strong employees, and it feels like many people are leaving as soon as they can. Overall, there’s a lack of clear vision, and it’s hard to feel confident in the company’s future.
