The near constant sell off of business units and corporate downsizing within Weyerhaeuser over the last 10 years has left an indelible mark. The challenge for Weyerhaeuser is to remake itself into a growth company and a destination that more prospective employees will seek out. The company faces stiff challenges to achieve this due to its REIT corporate structure which places limits on re-investment in non-REIT business units where most of the people work e.g. manufacturing.
