Vantaggi
There are many pros: - The 'tech team' is exclusively comprised of enthusiastic nerds, and this makes for a really great environment. It was not unusual for a morning stand up to overrun by its entire length because we were talking about mathematics or computers. And the office is generally filled with cool and friendly people. - Typically each developer leads on their own project. This means you will get to do a lot of different things - one day, you are writing a frontend in React, the next, SSHing into an EC2 container and building your Docker project, the third, implementing a webserver in Mathematica... and you are trusted to learn the stuff you need to on the job. - There is a talks and content aspect to this role. Which is already nice, but occasionally, you will be asked to create some new content - you basically decide on a cool project that you want to do, or a topic you want to discuss, and then you go and do it. - A great work-life balance: you finish at 5, you can work from home for the majority of the week, and the job was never stressful. - Nice sunny office around a 5 minute walk from the community path through Blenheim Palace. - You work for Wolfram Research.
Svantaggi
- A lot of your experience will be in the Wolfram tech stack - it is a great tech stack, but you can guess from the name which companies value it. - The pay is relatively low. - The job can feel a little salesy, but it's really not overwhelming.
