Vantaggi
I’ve been with Xitricon for a few years, and there are some positives worth mentioning:
• Work-from-home facility.
• Salaries are USD-pegged, which is beneficial given the local economy.
• Some team members are knowledgeable, supportive, and willing to share insights.
• Good training programs for new joiners.
Svantaggi
Unfortunately, there are significant concerns that outweigh the benefits:
• Arrogant and unapproachable top management.
• The USD-pegged salary comes with a virtual Dubai contract, which effectively allows the company to bypass both Sri Lankan and UAE labor laws. Employees can be terminated at any time.
• Despite the contract being based on UAE law, no gratuity is paid after termination. Management claims gratuity applies only to UAE-based employees, not Sri Lankan employees, which is unfair and unclear.
• Promotions and salary increments lack transparency. Gossip and personal closeness to management seem more important than performance or skills.
• There are no clear or fair performance evaluation criteria. Employees are sometimes terminated citing “low performance,” even when project feedback is positive and there are no complaints from clients or team leads.
• Salary, benefits, and job roles are distributed unfairly.
• No company events, team bonding activities, or appreciation initiatives. When employees suggested a company trip, management’s response was essentially, “You can pay and go yourselves.”
• Certain members of management lacks leadership and mentoring skills, often insulting team members instead of guiding them. Decisions are frequently based on gossip from close associates.
• Some low-performing employees remain unnoticed due to favoritism and gossip, while hardworking employees are overlooked.
• HR and certain team members contribute to a toxic work environment rather than resolving issues or supporting employees.
