Svantaggi
Where should I begin? My experience was a complete nightmare. There is miscommunication throughout the organization in the Dallas office. I cannot speak for any other office, although I have been told that other offices are much better. This was my first full time job that was going to be long term. I had come across contract jobs and I was ready to find something permanent. I was ready to take this role at Yardi because I felt this would be a nice company for me to grow. They brand themselves as being a place for growth and learning with a diverse staff. I truly believe this is the culture in some places but not all. I started on 3/1 virtually. There is a ton of information given through three weeks of training. We are often told training is like “drinking from a water hose/fire hydrant.” It’s a lot of information, seriously but it was fun. Training was informative and we got to interact with other new people. This felt inviting. We are constantly warned behind the scenes by other employees to avoid a particular manager because he’s racists and sexists. I decided I would do my job, stay out of the way and work hard until I get to another team. Throughout my few weeks of training, there were no expectations given about when we would be ready to communicate with clients. We were often told that we can start doing that once we’re comfortable because there’s no way for us to know everything after being here for less than a month.. okay. That was reassuring to me. I stayed after many days to ensure I was reading up and working on the software and the features. You cannot record overtime so no, there is no record but why would I lie? I’m already not employed here. The second week of training, I found myself literally begging for my job. I was told already that this wouldn’t be a good fit by this manager and I was going to be fired. Because I’m taking my time learning a new topic that I was told by HR wasn't required prior to the role? Okay. The team lead insisted for this manger to give me additional time to learn and I continued to bust my butt to learn. After a few weeks in training, I could see the needed areas for the role. This includes: technical knowledge, customer service & ACCOUNTING. If you don’t have accounting knowledge, don’t bother. Actually, maybe you’ll be given the chance to learn??? After all they do claim that it takes about a year to learn Yardi accounting, but why wasn’t I given normal timeframes? Anyways, I have an additional meeting with the team lead to discuss accounting topics & I have her two and that was that. At this point, I have not had ANY chance to show/prove what I have learned, speak with a client, etc. I have internet issues Friday and speak with the team lead throughout the day about this and then one PTO day which was APPROVED by the Director. I come back on a Tuesday - FIRED. Just like that. Reason why: Because I was not ready to take chats. Myself along with the other two new hires on the team had not been given the opportunity to take chats alone, handle emails, etc because we had JUST completed our first week of shadowing. So how is it that I am fired for not taking chats when none of the new people on MY team have taken chats, spoken to clients, etc? I was told in the firing meeting by HR that I told the manager that I was not ready to take chats and that I’m being fired because of that. I was also told that I would jeopardize the relationship that yardi has with the clients if I had the chance to speak with clients. I was then told I would be able to ask questions at the end by HR. Once I try to ask a question about when did I ever make that statement to the manager, I was told by HR to “let’s not make this harder than what it needs to be”. UM HELLO?? I just lost my job??? This isn’t hard for you, this is hard for me! The person being fired for no reason without any proof that I was “unfit”. I am a computer science degreed black man, who has had plenty of client facing roles prior. What do you mean I would jeopardize the relationship? Why lie and say I told you all I was not ready to take chats when I have never told anyone in the organization that? There’s just so many questions and I was not given any answers. But a BS excuse on why I was fired and rudeness from management and HR.
