The job has flexible hours. As long as parcels are delivered before 8PM then delivery time didn't matter.

Salary is paid per parcel and varies depending how far you need to travel for deliveries. I was paid 70p per parcel. The parcels are delivered to your address in the morning. When I started working at Yodel this was as early as 8AM, meaning I could get work done before school finished and pick up kids. This soon changed and could be waiting as late as 11 every day. Supposedly allowed to turn the parcels away if they turn up after 11 but you will get a phone call trying to guilt you into delivering them anyway. You are not paid for fuel or any damages that may occur during the job. Some houses are down very bumpy roads not designed for cars but you have to deliver them anyway. You also have to pay Yodel insurance to cover the parcels in the car. If somebody is not in and you are unable to deliver the parcel then you are not paid for it and have to go back 3 times. After 3 times the parcel is sent back to the depot for customer collection. However the customer usually just calls the depot and the parcel is sent straight back for 3 more attempted deliveries. Customers can be a nightmare. Expecting you to go out of your way to get their parcel to them. Sometimes they ask you to deliver to another address that is nowhere near your delivery area, and cant understand why you will not deliver it. Many customers order parcels that require a signature then go out every day, usually asking you to go back after work hours (which is the last thing you want to do after being in the delivery area all day and having to drive back for one delivery). Many customers will call you and ask if you can leave a parcel in a certain location, then later will call to say the parcel is not there. Lots of people trying to get free stuff. Also expected to give your personal number out to people and answer your phone up until 8-9PM. Work days are 6 days a week. Probably more that I can't think of.

All sales jobs are tough this is no exception, you have to get used to people freaking out on the phone at you. That's actually par for the course of course.
