This is not a bitter employee's review, it's the realistic unbiased situation. -Last-minute decisions for major shifts involving Executives, senior directors, and others "not with us anymore" are commonplace. -While a significant company event was planned in Spain and heavily advertised on Linkedin, all other celebrations like Christmas and summer gatherings have been permanently canceled as part of the neverending huge budget cut that is happening for three years now. -The few benefits we had were stripped away, and when employees raised concerns, the CPO responded dismissively: “If you’re here for the benefits, we don’t want you—feel free to leave.” -During a wave of layoffs, they simultaneously hired several agile coaches and HR personnel, created a vague “company values handbook,” and these changes were followed by mass terminations on technicalities - using that handbook, after which the company rebranded to start fresh. -The company remains unprofitable, and the industry it operates in is on the decline, which led to mergers with other companies as a last attempt to save the ship. -If you’re not part of the influential “Munich lobby,” your position is likely disposable. -Merit-based performance holds little value. Promotions often go to those who focus on self-promotion, presenting grand ideas and demos about things they never actually deliver. -The culture of endless meetings (often from 9 to 5) means everyone feels compelled to share every small task they’ve accomplished. -Accountability is absent. Decisions made by certain individuals have cost thousands of euros, yet they remain in their roles, while those who opposed such decisions were later dismissed—again, favoring the “Munich lobby.” -Employees who overhauled entire (traditionally) troubled domains received negligible bonuses of just 2–4% annually, and that's the max. -Openly disrespectful behavior during live meetings is tolerated without repercussions. -Key figures like the CTO, Head of departments, Tribe Leaders, Senior Directors, Managers across the board have either been forced out or chosen to leave—some without securing new roles, seemingly just desperate to escape. -This organization operates with an unprecedented level of secrecy. Major decisions are made behind closed doors and announced at the last minute, creating an environment where every day feels like an unpredictable rollercoaster. A single call can drastically alter your role, and such disruptions happen repeatedly. -Feedback that isn’t wholly positive often results in isolation or exclusion. -Teams are regularly reshuffled at the whim of someone launching an untested “initiative,” pulling people from successful domains to join. When these "initiatives" fail, the resulting solution is to shut down the teams and lay off the employees. -Every two years there's a huge reshuffling, letting people go, hiring new ones, repeat If you are considering to join, it's good if it's your first job or if you want to spend a couple of years in a role and get that badge, otherwise run away. Otherwise, be ready to experience territorial fights, extreme passive aggressiveness and instability .

While some company-wide events have changed, we continue to prioritize initiatives that contribute to employee engagement and well-being. Vantaggi

Atolls has an incredibly caring management team. They do not shy away from motivating their teams to work hard and achieve lofty goals, but they offer ample support, frequent pulse checks, and actively encourage a healthy work-life balance, motivating employees to maximize their work hours. If you're looking for a workplace devoid of toxicity and who supports your overall career aspirations, this is the place.

Svantaggi

The work here can become rather repetitive. While you have an incredibly large array of client sites to work with, most of your day-to-day duties will look the same. There are still plenty of opportunities for you to take on new projects and mix things up, but your core schedule is very similar day to day.

Vantaggi

I have sincere confidence and respect in leadership - Gerhard, in particular, is smart, charismatic, deliberate and compassionate. It's easy to believe in him and his vision because he seems very sincere. I've found this to generally trickle down throughout the organization. While not necessarily true of all leaders I've had during the course of my tenure at the company, my current direct manager is pragmatic while still managing business goals, and has respect for a healthy work/life balance. The company leans into a policy of being open, honest and direct. I generally find leadership to be quite transparent - if you're paying attention, you'll know the temperature of the business at any given time, and have a sense of where the company is heading. There are no big secrets (or if there are, they've done such a good at hiding them I'm oblivious). This is one of the rare companies where the people I come into regular contact are good people, supportive of one another, and genuinely working towards common success.

Svantaggi

Look, no company is perfect. Atolls/GSG can sometimes move too slow. And sometimes it can seem to underinvest in what seem like key initiatives. But I believe that leadership is generally self-aware, open to input, and looks to improve in areas of underperformance where it is reasonable and makes sense. Comp is generally aligned to market averages. There are certainly companies that pay more - but will you find the same environment? I'm unsure on career opportunities. It seems like employees in some geos may be better positioned for growth then others.
