One of the favorite topics amongst anyone that currently or used to work there is how badly that place sucks. Management would pressure newish employees to write positive reviews so don't take the random 5 star reviews at face value. I'll try to keep this short and sweet and give you the honest truth.
Reasons iPromo is a terrible place to work:
- No yearly raises or bonuses
- Leo's only concern in the company is the Sales department. To him no other department matters.
- Pay is absolutely terrible if you're not in sales. Upon leaving the company I was able to have my salary doubled and my new employer sympathized with me on how terrible I was paid.
- No clear direction for the company. It's been "growing" forever now however it's ironic that more people were fired/quit last year than were hired. Growth mode....right sure thing!
- That President, Gary, who's mentioned below who was going to change the company around and get it back on its feet. Remember that guy from the other comments? Well he quit after less than 6 months of working here. Why would that be you think?
- IT manager quit / Full Accounting team quit / Half of the sales support team quit / The Sales support manager quit / President quit / The top sales person in the company quit. This is all in the last 6 months by the way!
- The CEO, Leo, is like a kid at a candy store he just can't make up his mind on what he wants. He's impulsive and changes company goals and initiatives constantly. NOBODY enjoys working alongside him. He lacks any sort of communication or people skills and has 0 loyalty towards his employees.
- 95% of the employees at iPromo have been there for LESS THAN 1 YEAR! The company has been around for almost 20 though....hmmm I wonder why the high turnover. Oh it's because it's such a great company to work for right? Hah right....
- Some vendors they use are refusing to fulfill orders because iPromo was unable to financially fulfill their contractual obligations in a timely manner. Big No No in business. How would your credit card company handle you buying without paying?
Bottom line is if you enjoy not having job security, not having the same pay throughout the year, having unclear objectives and goals, little to no support with your day to day functions, and a management team who can careless about you then by all means apply away. Otherwise proceed with caution and don't be afraid to bring up these points up in an interview and see how they respond. It won't be long before you know that the correct decision is NOT to work for iPromo.
