Clients straight out lie in their feedback. Example from today: Client said I didn't leave necessary notes, I only read the material and I didn't explain difficult words. These are all absolute lies. In fact, this is completely the opposite of what I did. Which totally inflames me. Every class you teach, the client(s) have an opportunity to rate you. If you get a few complaints or too many bad ratings, even if your overall score is good, you can be suspended from working for a week without notice. You'll get warnings directly in your email and no one will respond to you even if the warning was invalid in some way. These things are controlled by algorithms, i. e. robots. So often, no real person hears you. So, you can be punished by an algorithm because a client, probably intentionally for some "slight" they felt subjectively, lied about you. You have 5 adult students you're trying to juggle at once in an online classroom and make everybody happy and get done in 45 minutes. You ask a student a question in multiple ways to try and make it easy for them. They say nothing after 5 minutes, so you move on and they're upset. Even after you come back to them later and give them plenty of opportunities for conversation.
