Solutions architects can be expected to work up to 10 or 15 extra hours per week doing this, unpaid, beyond the 40 hours of delivery work required. And the only way to get promoted is to willingly exploit oneself in this way. They don't really care about delivery excellence anymore, and they certainly don't take employee preferences and experience into account when assigning to projects. It's all about getting a butt in a seat and charging the client, maximizing the margin, because at phdata, the workers are the product.
