In support of Axon’s goal to increase ethics and equity competency across the organization, the Global Strategic Community Impact team (GSCI) recently kicked off the first pair of virtual ‘Ethical Tech’ training sessions in September. Both sessions, led by Dr. Desmond Patton of the U.S. Ethics & Equity Advisory Council (EEAC) and SAFELab at Penn State, focused on helping over 350 employees learn how to identify potential biases in the product design cycle by reflecting on how one’s identity, background, and past experiences can impact technology development. Six months ago, we launched our moonshot goal to cut gun-related deaths between police and the public by 50% in the next 10 years. Since then, we’ve received encouraging support for the goal, as well as questions about how we’ll achieve it.
