We’re committed to helping small businesses spread their success around the world. Santini Cycling is an Italian company that designs, engineers and manufactures 7,000 specialised clothing products every day. They wanted to expand their offering globally but faced the complexities of legislation and documentation. Partnering with UPS has made this potentially difficult process easy, thanks to our logistical operations and brokerage systems. By taking the pain out of cross-border shipping, Santini can focus their energy on growing their business and keeping their international consumer base of cycling enthusiasts happy.
UPS Healthcare is investing €55 million in two facilities near Rome and Lodi in Italy, adding a combined 100,00 square metres of warehouse space. The investment means both spaces are equipped to handle medical and pharmaceutical products, with heating and cooling systems powered by sustainable on-site solar panels. The site in Passo Corese near Rome also benefits from the latest automation technology, with 80 robots autonomously picking and sorting up to 25,000 crates. This significant development means that order fulfilment is simplified, errors are reduced, and efficiency is maximised across operations country-wide.
As part of our drive to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050, we’re reducing our carbon emissions by making our iconic fleet of vehicles efficient, reliable and sustainable. With 100 new electric vehicles (EVs) in Paris — and a goal of over 600 across Europe by the end of 2024 — we can better serve our customers in congested cities. With a long range of 142 miles per charge and a smoother driving experience, we’re looking after our drivers and the planet in one fell swoop!
Charles moved from his homeland of Nigeria to Germany and joined UPS over twenty years ago. He was awarded the 2023 Jim Casey Community Service Award for his incredible volunteering initiative — opening a school in his hometown of Enugu. Passionate about providing children with the opportunity to have a future and rise out of poverty, the Heavenly Kids Technical College provides classes in carpentry, electrical installation, shoemaking, fashion design and catering programmes. Charles hopes that when companies start flowing into Enugu, his students will have a competitive edge in the job market due to the skills they acquire. The personal sacrifice he makes to achieve his dream is truly incredible — he selflessly sends a portion of his salary to provide an income for staff members and resources for students. The payoff, for him, is seeing the children happy — and we couldn’t be more inspired by his amazing determination and generosity!
2023 was marked by a lot of major wins and accolades. We bagged more than 70 awards globally for innovation, reliability, service and DEI. These included The Best Customer Service, Most Admired, Most Innovative, Greatest Workplace for Women, Best Employer for Diversity and more. FT Magazine also acknowledged our CEO Carol B. Tomé on its annual Woman of the Year list for her steadfast, consistent leadership during the pandemic and commitment to creating an inclusive, values-based culture. Here’s to many more awards and opportunities for our UPSers in 2024!
