I had an initial screening. It was mostly fine, but I got stumped as I realized through this process that think tanks really value how much you know and understand about their organization which I naively did not understand.

Interviews with AEI are always dense. They make the most of their time and ask many questions. They are always interested in seeing that you align with their values so expect questions about your beliefs and how you align with their misison.
First interview was a phone call with recruiter. Second interview was focused on technical questions with the hiring manager. Straight-forward process, although was not told that second interview would be a technical assessment.
