      Colloquio

A recruiter from and external firm got in touch with me about this position. I started with a short phone screen with the recruiter on the job. Afterwards I was given a remote HackerRank coding challenge / quiz. I did extremely well on the test and moved on to a semi technical phone screen with the Tech Lead and a Front end developer. After doing the technical phone screen on basic html, css, javascript and OOP, I was told immediately that I would receive confirmation for an onsite technical interview. I was told by a couple of people that I was "the best candidate they have received so far since the start of this job posting." I practiced and practiced and practiced my coding of OOP and replicating the Timer on Google (that was what the onsite interview was). I was confident in my ability to replicate it. I was told before the interview that the exercise was javascript heavy. During my onsite I was given the exercise I expected, however the interviewers seemed hesitant when I would ask implementation questions. They wanted me to spend as much time on the HTML, CSS portion and ended up giving me very little time to work on the javascript portion. I went ahead and followed their instruction and even though I had very little time to implement the functionality (the most important part imo) I was able to provide an OOP, ES6, well written implementation. The interviewers left and then came the Tech Lead who immediately informed me I did not receive the job. The Tech Lead was kind enough to offer feedback about the interview. When I asked what I implemented incorrectly that came across as "too junior", he replied "I don't know, I am not a front end developer and so I can't say why you weren't a good technical fit." Same tech lead who said I was too junior proceeded to say "Well, I actually don't remember how many years your resume said you were in tech." I responded "three years"... This was a pretty devastating interview that wasted a lot of my time and emotional energy. In one breath they made it sound like I was definitely a contender for the job, the next moment they cut my interview short to tell me I'm too junior on the final onsite interview. Overall, the experience was love/hate. The people were extremely friendly and the culture seemed very pleasant. However, the way they analyze the final interview is a bit confusing. I'm certainly not a senior developer, and I don't feel too big for my britches. However, I know my code was very clean and efficient, so I only wish I knew what they were looking for. Also, of course my code could have been even better, however I wish the interviewers would have told me how they thought I was doing as I was progressing through the problem. They made it seem like everything was fine so I should just keep going. Overall, I am very confused about how I was perceived.

      Domanda 1

What is the difference between == and ===? What is the difference between Prototypal and Pseudoclassical Inheritance? Implement a remake of the Google Timer in HTML, CSS, JS.

Stay away! Started with a great interview from HR, followed by an easy but fun take home assignment, then a wonderful interview with the hiring manager. However, the next stage was were things took a big turn for the worse. They had a 5 and a half hour long interview scheduled which I took off for. The first interview was supposedly a pair programming interview, but the interviewer did not talk except for to lead me down a wrong path. I didn’t finish the question in time, but I had given my thought process in full detail and explained what was missing and how I would have implemented it. The second interview scheduled was an algorithm based interview (even though the first interview was essentially an algorithm question as well, so it felt redundant and highly unnecessary for a front end position) I did struggle with this question a little, but in the end I came very close to the solution. The interviewer was struggling the entire time to understand the question and he felt very unprepared. After an hour long break, the same guy from the second interview showed up 15 minutes pass the scheduled time that my third interview was supposed to begin. He told me that they always decided they were not moving forward with me and that the interview was over. I was last rather speechless as the first interview had gone fine, and was even reassured that by the two interviewers. But then the second guy told me that they felt code was confusing and didn’t make sense after I they themselves led me down a confusing rabbit hole I otherwise would not have taken. And the second interview I didn’t solve the algorithm ( even though the interviewer was confused the whole time as well to the question) Overall the whole process left a very sour taste in my mouth and I do not understand why they would waste my time if they were so unprepared. Also rework your interview process, the part I got to experience was redundant and tested nothing related to front end development. Ultimately I took off work to have them not respect that fact and waste my time.

They asked me to review my code and also about time and space complexity.

They sent a 3 hour programming test via Hackerrank with one week to finish. If they do not like your results they will send you a very rude email saying that your programming skills aren't good enough, as if your time was not valuable.
