Overall the interview process was pretty straight forward. The first few steps were a mix of 1:1s and then a group portfolio presentation.
The final step was a product exercise and this is where I got a little concerned. The prompt they give you is to address a current issue they're having with their product and come up with some potential solutions in 30 min (the fidelity of the ideas can be whatever you want, designs, sketches, or simply typed out thoughts). When presenting the ideas, I got a lot of positive feedback, especially from the VP of Design who said "these are great ideas, I think we might actually incorporate some of these!"
You would think that would mean you nailed the interview process and an offer is coming. Wrong. Not only did I not get an offer, the recruiter called me with the rejection and the only feedback she gave was "the team is going to go with someone with more experience." The most generic, unusable feedback possible. No extra color, nothing.
Be wary of any company that leverages ideas from candidates during an interview process. I'm going to be keeping a watchful eye on their app to see if any of my "great" ideas make their way into their product.
