Had two different phone interviews with senior engineering management. Probably for the first time in my career I wanted to hang up the phone within 10 minutes because the interviewers were obnoxious and condescending. Happened in both interviews and I wondered why I agreed to the second phone interview after the way the first one went - probably because I was surprised to hear back from them after the first interview. To give them credit, they drilled down well into my past experience. But, it was never in a positive and friendly way. It felt like they wanted to show me how much better they are. One of the managers was also quite negative about the bureaucracy at Audible and asked if I really wanted to work in a company where the decisions were pushed down from the top. I walked away from the phone screens thinking that not only would I never work at Audible but I would never recommend them to anyone. Left a bad taste in my mouth.
