This was a standard 30 minute phone screen (over Google Hangouts) with a recruiter. He talked a bit about the company and the role but the majority of the interview time was spent discussing my past experience and suitability. There was enough time for questions at the end, and we finished about 5 minutes early. He then sent me a SQL test that took under 45 minutes to complete. The hiring manager was really personable and it sounds like an exciting company to work for. Unfortunately, the day after I completed the SQL test I was informed they'd hired someone else. This is, of course, a frustrating experience but hopefully they will keep my information on file as I was really quite keen on the role. One thing worth considering regardless of the role you're applying for is that this is an emerging (and currently a very volatile) industry. You could hit it big and ride the bitcoin wave into early retirement, or banking regulations and tax law issues may crop up and impact the company's viability. This needs to be taken into account if you are offered more stock options vs. upfront salary, and depending on how much job security you like/need.
