      Candidatura

Ho presentato la mia candidatura online. La procedura ha richiesto più di una settimana. Ho sostenuto un colloquio presso Curalate (New York, NY) nel mese di mar 2016

      Colloquio

The process started off great. I applied for the job on a Sunday evening, heard back from HR on Monday, and had an interview on Tuesday. The interview itself was well done. It flowed naturally and didn't feel robotic. Sometimes people go strictly off the script and don't add in questions relevant to the conversation. Other times, people are totally unprepared and you leave feeling like they didn't ask you the questions that speak to your qualifications as a candidate. I felt that the interview had a great balance of prepared and spontaneous questions and that I was able to portray myself accurately and wholistically. It was also clear that she had done her research on me, which was appreciated. She does type throughout the entire interview, so be aware of that if that kind of thing would throw you off. We were also interrupted several times by employees looking for a room and even had to switch rooms all together due to an apparent scheduling mix up. However, they are in the process of expanding the office, so this shouldn't be an issue in the future. My problem with the process started after the fact. Of course, after the interview, I sent a thank you note. I was told both verbally and through email that someone would follow up "very soon." Since the rest of the process was rather efficient, I expected to get some sort of answers within a few days. However, one week later, I still hadn't heard anything. To be fair, the interviewer told me that I was the first to be interviewed, so she had others to speak to. However, I truly believe that had I not checked in a week later, no one would have gotten back to me. The same day I emailed HR to follow up, I was told that they decided to move forward with another candidate. It felt like this was something that was already decided and that she only let me know because I had reached out. This is typical for most interviews, but when you tell someone, and I quote, that you will "absolutely be circling back very soon," then you should absolutely do that. Speaking in absolutes and then not following through on your promises is not only irresponsible, but cruel. Job searching is never easy and my recommendation to HR is to always remember that applicants are not only candidates, but human beings with livelihoods that they are trying to protect and enhance. It's unethical to make promises you don't plan on keeping. She was a nice lady and I really enjoyed the interview. Of course I'm upset that I didn't get to move forward in the process, but that's life. I'm more upset that I was made to feel like such a strong candidate and then tossed aside when they found someone else, only receiving notice because I asked for it. Again, to be fair, maybe they had just decided on a candidate since there were other interviews after mine, but it really didn't feel that way. The rest of the process was very timely, professional, and fair, and it generally seems like a great place to work.

Hi There, Thanks so much for all of your feedback about our process, as we continue to evolve as Curalate rapidly scales. Ensuring that our candidates have a great experience with our team is of utmost importance, and it sounds like your time with Karine was in line with that. I did want to respectfully address a couple of things that you mentioned in your critique that I found a bit troubling. First and foremost, hearing back from an interview within a week of your first meeting is not only standard, it's a best practice in recruiting. As you noted in your critique, you were the first candidate that our team met, so expecting an answer straight away would be impossible. While we would love to be able to let each candidate know if they are moving forward directly after their interviews, we often have to meet several candidates before that decision can be made. And in saying that, I feel very comfortable that the statement that we would "absolutely be circling back very soon," aligns very much with that timeline. Additionally, we wholeheartedly respect the job search, and it's actually our negative experiences interviewing with other companies, that has allowed us to build such an engaged/high-touch/communicative style for our process. While I respect that everyone is entitled to their opinions, some of the language you used in your review borders on "inflammatory." We maintain very close contact with our candidates, letting them know where they are in the process, offering feedback and helping them prepare, so being labeled "cruel," and saying that we "tossed you aside," is simply incorrect. We take this very seriously, and while we appreciate your thoughts, I'd ask you to really benchmark your experience at Curalate against your experience in other hiring processes going forward. I'm glad that you ended your review by talking about our team as "professional," and "fair," but I'd urge you to be careful with the vernacular you are using to describe your experiences. This industry is small, and taking a company to task for something that isn't even outlandish, is dangerous. I'd be happy to speak further about this, so please email (address noted below) me if you'd like to discuss over coffee. Above all else, I genuinely want to wish you the best of luck in your search. Cheers, Natalie Ledbetter Director of Talent Acquisition (natalie@curalate.com)
