This job did not follow the typical hiring and interview process. As you always say, it is not about what you know, rather, who you know. I had just completed a temporary assignment for another company, and was out pounding the pavement for the next opportunity. My wife had just completed a "project status" review with her team, and her boss had said he had no idea how they were going to get it all done. She responded by saying "Why don't you hire my husband?", to which the hiring manager replied "Why in the world would I hire your husband?". All she said was "Because he is a better PM than I am". One phone call later, I was hired and immediately began working 2 projects.

I was given a project that had been "neglected/abused" by a couple of prior PM's. The hiring manager's question was "Knowing that we have failed, and that the customer has little or no respect for our PM's, how do you plan to make this successful?"

Ive had multiple rounds of interviews with different stakeholders. In the end, there were 5 or 6. Which was okay for me, because I was not actively looking for a job. The process itself was extremely slow and stretched out up to 4 months. My advice - have patience with HR.
