      Ho presentato la mia candidatura online. La procedura ha richiesto una settimana. Ho sostenuto un colloquio presso Depop nel mese di mag 2019

      Colloquio

      The first stage was a hiring event. You introduce yourself to the other candidates and interviewers, then you’re given scenarios from real life users. You will explain how you would approach the situation and you can also share your ideas when the others present back. The next part of this event is a one to one interview with two members of the community team just to get to know you. For this part, a gentlemen from the Talent team observes the interviews. He got my name horribly wrong, and I had to correct him. I then made it to the second stage. In this part, you have a one to one interview with the head of the department. Again, it’s just a general conversation getting to know you. They asked why I wanted to work for Depop, and also if I could introduce any new feature what it would be. This is also the part where they ask what your expectations are as to salary. The second part of this interview is with someone from the People team to ask how you have found the process and a small chat to ask what your overall expectations are of the workplace. I was quiet transparent as to my expectations and my future plans outside of work. Although the people at Depop seemed polite, the organisation itself lacks diversity and they assumed I would take the job if they offered it. The lady from the People Operations Team, although nice, didn’t seem informed enough in answering my questions in relation to holidays, probation periods or the company’s benefits. The overall process seemed rushed, and I advise future candidates that if you wish for an employer that accommodates you in instances regarding your passions outside of work, Depop isn’t it. I would only advise you to go for this position if you wish to build a career and stay with the company for a couple of years, and you’re fine giving up weekends occasionally and working bank holidays. They seemed very keen to take me on but like I mentioned I was transparent as to my future career plans in the years to come and they decided not to go forward with my application.

Being a creative marketplace, we are fully supportive of passions outside work, but in some cases we can’t always be as flexible as candidates would like. With this particular Support role, everyone is required to work the occasional weekend or bank holiday to ensure fairness across the team.
