After hearing about DoorDash from a few colleagues, I had decided to reach out to them for the Inside Sales Manager position. I was basically a referral but with how the process went you would think I was someone who walked in at an open house. I only had a phone interview where it was very basic questions such as “Tell me about yourself...” and “Why do you want to work for us?” as well as “Why are you looking for a change / leaving your current employer?”. The phone interview lasted nearly twenty minutes where the recruiter had indicated everything had went really well and she would contact me for next steps after speaking with the hiring team. My background aligned very well for the role as I have plenty of management experience and a long track record of success between both of my previous and current jobs. When she reached out to me after a few days, the recruiter indicated that even though my background aligned well and I had a strong track record of success, the hiring team didn’t feel I was the “perfect fit” for the role at this time. Nothing else. Very brief and not a very transparent response whatsoever. Was not even offered an in-person interview after being referred and knowing multiple people in the organization. I had even followed up asking about another role I was interested in with the company and never heard back from the recruiter. In my opinion, a very unprofessional interview experience with a company who doesn’t seem to care to even follow up with someone who was interviewing as a referral.
