First was 30 min call by recruiter. All jobs are remote. Give 4 hour timed assignment to complete at my own time.
Got rejected and they couldn't elaborate why.
It's a canned response "we had many other great candidates apply", even though there was an ambiguous requirement and no way to ask back questions for clarity. Since I felt that there is more than one than one way to implement the requirements, depending on which route you go, it will be a hit or miss. They were looking for specific answer.
Your time means nothing to Github until hired and many other companies. Speaks a lot about the company when after joining its all "we live and breathe core values and value everyone".
On plus side, it wasn't multi day assignment and at least they bothered to reply.

First stage recruiter call (45 minutes) which went well, both sides confirmed we'd like to progress to the next stage and the process was outlined. I was subsequently ghosted for 8 weeks, only getting a response when I emailed saying I'd withdrawn my application - to tell me that the team was being "rethought" and the job may not actually be available anymore but they'll let me know (they never did).
