Straightforward with 4 key metrics:
General Cognitive Ability - We ask open-ended questions to learn how you approach and solve problems. And there’s no one right answer—your ability to explain your thought process and how you use data to inform decisions is what’s most important.
Leadership - Be prepared to discuss how you have used your communication and decision-making skills to mobilize others. This might be by stepping up to a leadership role at work or with an organization, or by helping a team succeed even when you weren’t officially the leader.
Role-related knowledge - We’re interested in how your individual strengths combine with your experience to drive impact. We don’t just look for how you can contribute today, but how you can grow into different roles—including ones that haven’t even been invented yet.
Googleyness - Share how you work individually and on a team, how you help others, how you navigate ambiguity, and how you push yourself to grow outside of your comfort zone.

Tell me about a time when you failed to meet a deadline. What did you fail to do? What did you learn?
Ho sostenuto un colloquio presso Google (Los Angeles, CA)

This was for the phone screening and it was pretty straight forward. I thought I did well in the screening, but didn't make it past the initial screening. It also took the recruiter a while before she even got back to me on whether I'd be moving onto the next phase or not. But the screening was very scripted and the recruiter didn't seem to know a lot about the role itself besides what was scripted.

Tell me about a time when you found yourself in a difficult situation and how you got out of it?
Ho presentato la mia candidatura tramite segnalazione di un dipendente. La procedura ha richiesto 4 settimane. Ho sostenuto un colloquio presso Google (Los Angeles, CA) nel mese di lug 2025

I applied through an employee referral. About a week or so after applying, I was emailed a test to complete. Within a day of completing the test, I received an automated email saying I passed.
A week or two later, a recruiter reached out to set a call. We spoke and he passed me onto the next round while we were on the call. A Google assistant then reached out later that day to schedule my next round for the following week. They sent helpful prep resources. I met with the hiring manager, and learned 2-3 days after meeting with her that I didn't get the job, but it was overall a fair and transparent process.

A lot of process based questions, like if I was in the role and x happened, how would I respond/what would I do?
Lengthy process covering different topics across role related knowledge, general cognitive ability, culture fit, case studies with different people from different teams. The process usually takes 3 - 6 months.
