I applied through an employee referral and was contacted shortly after for a phone interview with a recruiter. For the phone interview, I was asked questions about my interest in HubSpot, how I heard about the position and brief questions about my previous experience. I was then invited for a video demo interview over Zoom where I had to complete 3 easy tasks beforehand, then explain how I did them. The hiring manager then tested me on my ability to problem solve by asking me to do some more advanced tasks. Although I was unable to solve them immediately, I showed my thought process and learning style while the manager gave me some hints to solve the problems.
Then, I had 3 on-campus interviews with 3 hiring managers. All of them asked "Why HubSpot?" and similar questions about my previous experience. To be honest, this would have been more efficient as a panel interview. The more difficult questions were asking me to recall customer situations. After the interviews, which were on a Monday, I was told I would hear back with a decision by Friday. I heard back by next Monday.
Positives: Throughout the recruitment process, the recruiters were extremely helpful. They told me what to expect during each interview and were willing to answer any and all questions about the company and the position. The process was fairly quick and everyone was respectful.
Negatives: I will give HubSpot the benefit of the doubt here because from other reviews it seems like this behavior isn't the norm. My recruiter didn't show up for my interview, so I didn't get a proper introduction or debriefing. In a thank you email to my secondary recruiter, I briefly mentioned the main recruiter's absence, and she explained that she was volunteering for a workshop at the Portsmouth, NH office.
When I received the news that they were not moving forward with my candidacy, the recruiter noted that they would be happy to schedule a quick phone call for feedback on my interview. I thanked her and her team for their time and accepted the invitation for feedback. However, she never followed-up. I emailed her 10 days later to tell her that I am still interested in receiving feedback, especially since I was considering applying for another position at HubSpot, and she still never responded. The responsiveness and professionalism I came to expect during my candidacy seemed to stop when they sent me the decision.
