Colloquio
Slotted onsite interview with 3 separate senior engineers or mangers each lasting 40-50 minutes. After introducing yourself, they will ask questions about experiences listed on your resume. They will ask about a time when you had to lead a project from start to finish. They are mainly looking for clear and detailed communication. Their way of asking questions felt like probing or an interrogation. They gave no visual or verbal cues as to whether I was on the right track. When I answered correctly, they didn't acknowledge, not even a nod, so it can be difficult keep it conversational. Especially the first interviewer made it very uncomfortable because his way of questioning felt like he wanted to see you fail. They stared with expressionless looks. The last interviewer was better because he would actually follow up on your responses and kept it conversational and open. However, he had a tendency to cut me off and didn't seem prepared. They never gave me feedback after 2 weeks since the interview so I assumed I didn't pass.

A recruiter reached out via LinkedIn. Scheduling the interview was self-service and easy to book. Applying was also self-service through their website.
Booked time was with hiring manager upon the virtual screen. The first screen is fairly casual, checking for cultural fit, and you get the opportunity to ask questions. The company is a bit different from your typical downtown, white-collar, software engineering office, so it was great to hear more about how they operate.
More rigorous technical screening interviews follow. Classic college-level algorithms and math problems.
Overall efficient, and gives enough time to prepare without dragging on too long. Unfortunately, the role was mainly .NET, which wasn't a good fit to my preferred tech stack.

Cultural fit and expectations for working a software job in a factory location was important.
Process was fine, I did the screening and it was easy. Surprising amount of technical questions for a phone screening, but nothing bad. Ended up turning down the next round due to not offering flexible work arrangements.

Applied to a job posting online and did not hear back. Got a LinkedIn message from an in-house recruiter who did not appear to know I had already applied asking me for a phone call. We talked on the phone for 45 minutes despite the 30 minute listed meeting duration. Was not able to ask many questions at all as I had to answer their large list of predetermined questions so the recruiter could take notes and pass on. Questions were soft-skills focused and non-technical.
