Colloquio
The interview process began with an initial debug session. If you pass this stage, it is followed by a series of panel interviews focused heavily on practical, on-the-job scenarios rather than just abstract technical questions. The loop consisted of three distinct panels: Communication, Troubleshooting (with a focus on database infrastructure), and SQL.
The team seems to be looking for someone relatively technical who has a deep understanding of the infrastructure realm.
1. Initial Recruiter Call
- Role explanation and company overview
2. Team Member Call
- Simple debugging question
- Getting to know the team dynamics
3. Technical Panel Interviews (3 rounds)
These are various "thoughts exercises", I would advise to get as much as details prior to the interviews; given the time allocated it's best to be prepared. I think questions can range on a wide variety of topics, and they are not quite clear about the expectation.
* Panel 1 - Communication
* Panel 2 - Application infrastructure
* Panel 3 - SQL Debugging & Analytics**
I didn't go through but there are 2-3 steps that were ahead if I made it through
4. Take-Home Exercise with demo potentially
5. Final cultural fit and vision alignment discussion
## Preparation Requirements
- **Technical Setup**: Local Metabase installation required
- **Key Skills**: Strong troubleshooting abilities, SQL expertise, cloud migration experience
- **Soft Skills**: Excellent communication, self-discipline, ability to work independently
## Overall Assessment
The process is thorough and well-structured, reflecting the company's emphasis on finding candidates who can handle complex technical issues while maintaining strong customer communication. The multi-panel approach ensures comprehensive evaluation of both technical and soft skills essential for the success engineering role.

Didn't even get to the first stage as it was really weird from the get-go. Recruiter messaged on LinkedIn saying they tried emailing me first, which is odd since I don't have my email public. When I asked, they said they just tried 'guessing' what my email address, and asked for my résumé/CV. This instantly put me on alert, considering the amount of scams and how unofficial LinkedIn is for processes like this, especially for requesting PII.
After applying (I did it via their website instead and told them to reach out to me with my email in the application), we scheduled a meeting. I gave my availability via Calendly, which they then had to reschedule, but they scheduled for a time I didn't say I was available. After I requested another reschedule, we had one set but 1min before the call they emailed to say they spilled coffee on their laptop and have to reschedule. At this point, the process felt so careless to the point of suspicion that I just said no thanks.
My advice is to respect your candidate's time; prioritise the agreed upon time. And be a bit more professional - you can still be casual and friendly while following proper workflows, so that candidates feel confident to trust you (and your company). Especially considering this was an outreach vs. inbound candidate.
