Netflix has contacted me many times. Sometimes I talk with them, sometimes I don't. The impression I get is, they're internal technology is a joke and they want jokers working there, or at least people who don't take their jobs seriously.
The last time, I spoke with an HR person once, who then told me that I wasn't a good fit, but without saying why. If that was the case (and Netflix doesn't have internal problems) that should have been evident from my resume.
The first time I spoke with Netflix, the manager of search seemed to have no experience with search, at all. And so I had to send him some links as to basic open source search functionality. Nonetheless they did not extend an offer. It gives a rather silly, kindagarten view of what is supposed to be a "successful" company (that basically mails and/or distributed movies).
