My interview was fast-tracked, so I went directly to a day-long on-site interview after an introductory presentation. The recruiter said I should prepare a more-detailed version of the introductory presentation I gave and be prepared to discuss what I did in more detail. Based on this, I spent nearly a day deep-diving into my project and preparing additional slides. However, at no point during the interview was I asked to present. Instead I was asked to download data I hadn't seen before, import it into Jupyter Notebook, and build a model with the data over two interview sessions (like a live coding challenge). This was actually OK, and most of my interview went fine, and I liked the majority of my interviewers. However, I had a session where communication was poor, and the interviewer showed their irritation with me. The interviewers during this session checked their phones several times while I was coding. When they left, I thanked them for their time, but they didn't respond. It seemed to me that they clearly felt I had wasted their time. I don't understand their reaction, however, it makes sense if they had expected me to have seen the data in advance. I know other candidates who interviewed for the same role were given the data set well before the interview, so maybe there was a miscommunication between the interviewers, the recruiter, and me. In general, Scoop seemed disorganized, and I felt very uncomfortable during the interview session I mentioned. Had I been offered the position, I would not have taken it.
