It was an awkward interview. Zoom call but was asked to keep the camera off, the recruiter did not seem interested at all and did not try to establish a connection with me. Felt like she scripted the whole interview, very robotic and impersonal. I was looking forward to getting to know more about the company but she just said what I already knew from the job description. Also didn't know how to answer some of my questions.

Entire process from first phone screen to rejection was 12 days. The team was incredibly transparent, prepared, understanding, emphathetic, compassionate.. The adjectives could continue. I wish that every tech interview process was run as smoothly as Segment. Huge shoutout to the recruiter who took the time to actually give me a call on 8/5 to explain where I had fumbled in the final interview. She took time out of her day to explain how I can improve for the next process. To any future candidates for SDR roles, the mock discovery call will make or break you. If you are transitioning careers, do not do what I did. Spend less time preparing scripting and more time running through exercises on the phone with friends/colleagues/mentors. I scripted far too much, became extremely nervous, reverted to the script, and dominated the conversation. Thank you again to everybody at Segment!
