Firstly, in the description for the job they didn't say that it was an overnight position so I found that to be odd. I was supposed to meet with someone for an interview but I ended up having two interviews that day. I applied online and got called in to interview. After interviewing with the first women, she asked me to talk to someone else which I did. After talking with that woman I was asked to speak with someone else. The couple who was sitting beside me in the common area asked me if I had been hired yet to which I laughed and replied no. I didn't have time to meet with the last woman so I left but got an email about a telephone interview the next day. The final interviewer and I played telephone tag for a few calls until I finally got in touch and did the interview. After all of that I got a call saying that I was not "passionate" enough about stock even though my previous job was merchandiser and I absolutely love makeup.

First I had a group interview with two of the managers. Then another manager called me for a phone interview. Everybody was really nice and really happy to answer any questions.

The interview was 100% scripted, which isn't uncommon, but the interviewer wasn't experienced enough to be able to use the information from the questions to dig further, or to tailor the questions more successfully to really get to the information she needed to make a decision. She was also unable to determine on the fly which questions might be irrelevant or already answered - essentially, the interview process was easy but ineffective. She was clearly not confident or comfortable in an HR role, and as such, the interview was less effective than it could have been.
