Applied on a Saturday, heard back from someone in talent the following Monday. Scheduled the HR screen for later that week and was given a week to complete the homework. It was an easy three questions on CoderPad.io, but I forgot to add something until afterwards, no offer.

Interview process began with two phone calls with the hiring manager, the first to discuss background and role, and the second a preliminary technical qualification. This was followed up by a take-home exercise that in my case was very open-ended and largely a thought experiment, on which I spent about 6 hours. I was invited on-site One really nice thing about the interview process at Slack is that the on-site begins with a presentation to the hiring committee of your take-home exercise. That's a nice way to set the tone for the day. The remainder of the on-site experience however was very poor. It lasted close to six hours, with not even a literal minute between interviews to take a break or prepare for the next conversation. The only actual break I got was when the hiring manager was 15 minutes late to our meeting, which resulted in my only having 15 minutes for lunch which was also an interview so I couldn't even really eat the food I was provided. Obviously the quality of conversations in the afternoon suffered greatly as a result of this. Interviewers below the leadership tier did not seem focused on evaluating for the role in question but rather stuck with topics very specific to their own work.
