All good. Until the offer. Aced each interview throughout the process. But stumbled across their totally unethical post-interview practices. I was contacted less than an hour after I left the on-site interview. Asked to schedule a call to discuss the next steps (offer). Was contacted by hiring manager the next business day. Was low-balled. He told me that there were a few positions open besides the one I had applied and interviewed for. Ran through offers for the lower positions as well as their respective job descriptions. Asked for my feedback ("what do you think?") and "what it would take for me to cancel all other upcoming interviews and accept their offer." Because I had not actually been presented with the Sr. Front-End offer, I politely thanked the hiring manager for presenting me with options but expressed that I had applied for the Sr. Front-End role and wanted to hear their offer for that. He told me he would get me an offer and a finalized job description in our next call. Over two weeks later (after many emails from the hiring manager apologizing every few days for being busy and having to coordinate with many people to get my offer together) I receive this last email: "I have connected with a few folks between yesterday and today to align the stars and come back with a plan. I think I'm gonna need 1 more day to get everything squared away. I appreciate your transparency and thoughtfulness throughout this process, so I apologize for being cryptic - I'm working to get final approvals for your comp package and role description." We connect at the end of the next day and he goes over my offer for role I actually applied for. I counter the offer with an extremely modest and quantifiably justified request (less than 5% increase in TC). The next morning I get a call from HR explaining that I had taken too long (over 2 weeks) to come to an agreement and they wouldn't be able to meet my salary expectations and were therefore revoking the offer. No word or feedback from the hiring manager. It took them over 2 weeks to get me an offer for something I actually applied and interviewed for and less than 12 hours later to revoke it. In all fairness, I suspect it is a cover-up for an issue more related to the state of the economy and the drop in the advertising industry. Unfortunately, they were not transparent at all and used some questionable tactics to rush me and attempt to get the upper-hand on a future employee. Please be careful when you receive an offer from this company.
