In 2019, I had my initial experience with Tinder when I had a screening call. Unfortunately, this initial interaction left me with a less than positive impression. After the screening call, there was no follow-up or communication from their end, which was quite disappointing. However, my perception of Tinder changed when, five months later,I applied for a similar role through an executive search agency. I shared my previous interaction with Tinder with the recruiter at the agency. Surprisingly, Tinder reached out to me via email and apologized sincerely for the previous lack of communication, acknowledging that their team had undergone some changes, which had led to my previous interview falling through the cracks. This admission of fault was refreshing, and Tinder assured me that I would be in capable hands. Additionally, they offered their assistance moving forward. This turnaround in their communication and willingness to take responsibility for their past mistakes was commendable. And my second interview experience with Tinder took place in 2020. During this initial interview, the interviewer expressed eagerness to move swiftly to the next step and set up a call with a senior member. However, the subsequent communication, or rather the lack of it, left me disheartened, AGAIN. There was a silence from the Tinder team for 4 weeks, and during this time, I received an email from the recruiter at the executive search firm. Regrettably, the recruiter conveyed the news that Tinder had decided to proceed with another candidate, but the message wasn't delivered to me, due to an internal miscommunication at Tinder. Overall, my experience with Tinder was marked by inconsistency in communication and a lack of follow-through. While there were moments of acknowledgment and attempts to make amends for past missteps, it's essential for Tinder to improve their communication and transparency in the hiring process to ensure a more positive candidate experience.
