Applied online. Process: spoke with a Sourcer for a 30 minute initial phone call, then had a video interview with one of the team managers. Was given a case study I had to prepare a short presentation for the onsite where I met with 6 different people, in groups of 2's. The interview itself was fine, but my biggest complaint is with the recruiter I worked with and the feedback I received when he was telling me why I didn't get the job. Recruiter asked to schedule a call for feedback, we confirmed a time, and he never called me. When he finally had the time to call me back (after not responding to my emails for over 24 hrs), he told me I did not get the job and offered to give feedback, which I was more than happy to hear. However, the feedback I received was strongly based on my "non traditional background"- worrying this would just be another job and that they'd have to put too much effort into ramping me up. Also, that my answer for why I was excited about U4B was "too generic." So many red flags here it's hard to know where to start. I was interviewed with my non-traditional background, and no one tried to dive into why I left my previous roles. I was also coming here after having been laid off so my current search was completely unexpected. It demonstrated a lack of empathy in a way that kind of shocked me. Following up with that by saying that my answer for why I was excited about the role/company was "generic" came across as extremely rude, as there was no other context. It's a bit of a bummer as I really liked the managers I spoke with as well as other people on the team-- but the recruiter experience and his horrible interpersonal skills relaying interview feedback left a really a bad taste in my mouth about the entire experience. I honestly would've preferred a generic rejection email over speaking with someone who made my time feel undervalued and made me feel offended on a personal level, vs providing me with helpful feedback that could've been applied for future interviews.

I interviewed with the Uber Eats team, and the recruiters were very friendly, helpful, and supportive throughout the process. My next interview was with the Hiring Manager, and I had a great conversation learning more about the role and discussing how my skills and experience could be a strong benefit to the team. Overall, it was a great interview experience. However, I was not selected to move forward, and the feedback I received was that I did not answer the situational questions using the STAR method. I found this a bit confusing because, from my understanding, the Hiring Manager did not ask any behavioral or situational scenario-based questions during the interview. That said, I still appreciate the opportunity and the positive experience throughout the process.
