Applied through a referral, got an email from a recruiter about 2 weeks later. Set up a phone screen 2 later.
Standard HR phone screen, why Uber, why do you want to leave your current job? I was surprised at how reserved the recruiter was, since most interviews I've experienced the recruiters are more upbeat and lively.
The most negative part of the interview was the recruiter didn't know what the position was about. I get HR isn't normally too familiar, but it was clear the recruiter was just saying buzzwords (i.e. Optimizing, streamlining) and couldn't give me any details.
When I asked about a specific bullet on the job description, the recruiter said "that's not on the job description", but when I pulled up the link during the call and read the bullet back and asked about it, the recruiter said "wasn't entirely sure what it meant but I don't think it's a big part of the job".
I'm sure Uber is a great place to work, but let's just say I wasn't that upset when I got the official decline email 2 weeks later.
