Typical process - Recruiter calls, asks expectation, sets up initial screening with the hiring manager, In person interview with bunch of people which goes almost half day.
I rate the experience as negative not because i did not get offer as some might think. I am not sure how this company's value is fun whereas all I had was not fun during the interview. First of all this was setup as lunch interview by the hiring manager and I was surprised when I had to pay for buying my own lunch which I did not get to eat because interview was going on. This was big turn off for me and had I not been in dire need of Job that time, I would have left already by then. Secondly, The hiring manager was couple of senior to me from the same institute where I did my MBA and that relationship was established when we spoke over the phone. So there was lot in common like professors, courses, alumni etc and we got along well initially. I wasn't looking for any favor as such but end of the interview she says everything is fine but I do not know Java (mind you, I come from microsoft background and that time working on C# mostly). My problem is this was not in the JD, not in my resume, so if this was so important than why waste time.
My verdict is somehow i got stuck in the wrong group during this interview and no matter how financially sound this company is or how good other people may find, there are bad seeds everywhere and one might have bad experience like mine. This was stuck in my mind since long and just could not forget. So had put this on some platform.

It has been almost one and half year. Not sure if I recall everything but questions were not technical in nature. Mostly about soft skills, what would do if this happens and that happens type.
4 rounds, 1 coding, 1 code review, 1 technical (mainly design patterns) and 1 hiring manager. Then some general ones with HR, etc. The overall process was ok, but the questions felt random.

1. Phone screen with a recruiter A 30 minute call with a recruiter. Completely standard. 2. Interview with the hiring manager I got an interview scheduled with the hiring manager 3 weeks later. It went well, and got a very positive feedback, and the next round got scheduled for 2weeks later. I got instructions to prepare a 20 minute presentation about a situation described. 3. Situation interview A day before the interview they cancelled because another candidate was selected.
