Interviewed for Director, Founder's Office.
The process involved a senior leader video-call screen, an in-office case study (two 45-minute sessions, written format, no AI, alone in a room with a computer they provided) and a round of in-office interviews.
The people I met were engaging and the conversations were interesting. But the process itself had some real issues.
Before the final round I sent the recruiter 3-4 messages asking who I'd be meeting and what skills would be assessed, reasonable things to want to know when preparing for an interview. The response every time was some version of "still being finalised" or "demonstrate relevant skills in similar situations." Nothing specific. I went into the final round not knowing who I was interviewing with or what they were actually looking for.
Then, five minutes before the interview, while I was standing just outside of the Zapp office, the recruiter called to say one interviewer had something urgent come up and I'd need to wait 45 minutes. No way to rearrange the others earlier.
After travelling to the office twice and going through a genuinely demanding process, I received a generic rejection email from the recruiter. I followed up asking for specific feedback. No response.
The role and the people seemed genuinely good. The candidate experience definitely did not match that.
